I believe that many moms wondering whether they can mix their expressed breast milk (EBM) with formula at the same bottle. According to Jan Barger the lactation consultant, EBM can be mix with formula (there is nothing wrong) but you don't want to waste any single drop of your precious EBM. This is because formula from a bottle that your baby drunk must be discarded within an hour of preparation while EBM on the other hand, will "keep," refrigerated for a number of hours in a bottle that's been fed.
For example, if you mix 3 ounces of EBM with 3 ounces of formula but your baby only drink 5 ounces of it, you need to discard the remaining milk....
Always remember to use distilled water to disolve formula and DON'T EVER use your EBM to dissolve the powdered formula because this will change the composition of your EBM and can be very hard for your baby immature kidneys...

The colostrum (first milk) coats the GI tract, preventing harmful bacteria and allergy -triggering protein molecules from crossing into baby's blood - Decreased risk for vitamin E and Iron deficiency anemia
- Decreased risk for acute appendicitis, rheumatoid arthritis, inguinal hernia, pyloric stenosis
- There are factors in human milk that destroy E coli, salmonella, shigella, streptococcus, pneumococcus....and many others
